Reiki

Has anyone received Reiki as part of treatment?

I had reiki done once, it was very relaxing, did not notice any other changes. One weird thing that happened when i had reiki was the lady told me that there was a cold area by my left hip which I then told her is where I had radiation for a bone met. That kind of made me a believer. Also during my treatment I had the strangest thoughts and images in my mind...

In Dec of 2005 I had surgery for stage 3 ovarian cancer. Chemo with Gem & Carbo left me with a CA125 that want from 803.9 to 5 by Oct. of '06. When I went back for followup Feb. 6 of this year my count was up to 27 but I was told it was still is normal range so  no worry. I also had swelling in my lymph nodes but the doctor said that's common as we age & his were probably swollen too. Felt great. I'm 57.

Feb.15 I was rushed by amulance to emergency, unable to speek, just babble. A CT was done of my body & an MRI of my head. Ther are 4 tumors in my brain, all on language centers,so they can't operate on them & my abdomen is full of tumor. My CA125 was up to 75.Steriods have controled the swelling in my brain but result in radical changes in my body. 18 whole brain radiation treatments have left me with little balance. I'm able to stumbble aroud from chair to table to counter, etc at home but need a wheelchair when I go out. I'm swollen all over, even inside my ears. I can;t even get a Qtip into my ear canal,hearing is like going up a mountain & getting plugged ears, wishing they would pop so you can hear normally, but they don't pop. All this in less than a month.

It's interesting that the radiologist doing the WBRT doesn't know why these things are happening, he's never seen these things before. He had another MRI done to see if ther's something else going on he didn't know about. The result was no change from the previous MRI, which made me think if there's no change is the radiation even working at all?

The doctor that's going to be doing the chemo is away on vacation & I won't see him till April 3. Meanwhile it seems that at this point all that's being done is designed to make me comfortable, not buy me time.

I'm so sorry to hear about all this with you and having to use a wheelchair. It's a terrible disease especially when it goes to the brain as yours did and mine did. I didn't have the WBR because I had two tumors and they were operable. I know surgery is rough but the WBR is really awful too. Please hang in there and keep us up to date with what you are doing. And watch some funny movies--we have to laugh alot. God Bless, Helen
