Removal of Dermoid Cyst?

Hi, I'm 30 yrs old and I'm 16 weeks pregnant. I was diagnosed with a dermoid cyst on my left ovary with a size of 5.4 or 5.1. My doctor decided not to remove it since I'm not feeling any pain on my left ovary. Is it safe to leave it as it is or is it better to have it removed? By the way this is my first baby. Your immediate response is higly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, it maybe better to also post this on the ovarian cyst community.  There are lots of ladies and pregnant ladies with experience of dermoids, or you can search by ' Pregnant & Dermoid' and read posts from other ladies that will help.

I have what they think is a dermoid, but mine is 10cm  (but I am not pregnant).   I am having it removed next Tuesday.

You need to seek what the implications are from your Gyno in operating whilst you are pregnant, as I have read a couple of posts where dermoids have grown quickly during pregnancy and leaning on the baby, you dont want the chance of rupture of its greasy contents, but then surgery can be risky, if you decide to leave it, I would opt for it to be removed via C-section when you have your baby.   Good Luck
