Removing 1 ovary

I am have adhesions which is messing with my left ovary and causing a lot of pain.  The doctor wants to remove the adhesions & the ovary.  What are the risks?  He said he should be able to do it Laparscopic.  Will I be able to go home the same day.  What will be the effects after, will I still get enough hormones from my other ovary?

I have already had a hysterectomy.

Thank you.

Hi There,
you can get enough hormones from one ovary but ovarian function is age dependent. The older you are, the more chance of going into menopause with both ovaries. And taking one ovary out might increase that progression. One way to find out where you are in ovarian function is to get hormone blood tests estradiol, FSH , and LH. Depending on the levels, your doctor can help you understand where you are in relation to menopause
