Reoccurance Questions

by Ang80, Feb 13, 2007 12:00AM
Hi

I have posted on here previously but have a few further questions.
My mum had OVCA diagnosed at stage 3 in March 2005 and has had no further problems apart from anal fissures until Jan 2007 when her CA125 went from 12 to 21. CA125 has been 12 since she finished her treatment in Aug 2005.

1) What are the symptoms of a reoccurance, are there signs we should watch for?

2) If her CA125 is high at the next blood test what would happen then? Would she have scans?

3) Can CA125 levels drop back to 12 as they have increased?

4) Is it a good sign she has gone nearly 2 yrs since she was diagnosed and would this be in her favour if she was experiencing a reoccurance?

Many thanks for your time.

hi There

it is wonderful that she has gone two years without a recurrence. My personal experience is that with careful testing (CA 125 and ct scans) most recurrences are detected before there are any symptoms.

Occasionally a person will experience a blockage of their bowel or shortness of breath and have developed fluid in their lung and that is the first sign of recurrence.
it sounds like she is getting good care

take care
