Greetings from across the Tasman.! It's always good news to hear that cysts have disappeared, if only Ovca could disappear too.
I suppose you already know the increased risks of ovarian cancer and HRT especially if it's taken for longer than 5 years so it's a good thing that you won't be taking it.
These days doctors only recommend it be taken for less than 5 years due to the increase in Ovca, and with family history I'd be inclined to stay well away from it.
My mother who is stage 4 ovca took HRT for 15 years and given that she only got Ovca in her 60's she suspects that HRT may well have been the cause or a big contributing factor.
Here's a bit of info about it, http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200704/s1901885.htm
Here's to good health!
Carolyn :)
to Ashley and Shari,
Hi guys and thanks so much for your good wishes.
I had a hysterectomy in 2002 because of extreme pain with periods, scarring, endo, blah blah blah...you know, all that great stuff!! I have three wonderful children.
Post op I had pulmonary emboli.
So.. i still have just me ovaries, and keep having these reoccurring cysts. The concern I guess is my family history so am wondering if, like you Ashley, to just alleviate the worry down the road, and to go ahead and have them removed.
It is a hard decision, but you guys are such a great support. I thank you.
Peace and love
Kim
Your poems are wonderful. I love your posts.
I am 46 and just had a complete hysterectomy, no HRT says the doctor, until I firmly establish that I can't get along without them. Now, I'm pretty emotional, and I'm a bit worried that I will get crazy from no hormones... but did you read my post where my onc. told me that our fat turns to estrogen when our ovaries are gone? If that's really true, I should be good until Christ comes again... being as fat as I am!
I'm very happy for your good news. I wish my darn onc. would give me the "all clear" on my biopsy, but I'm celebrating with you tonight!
hugs,
Donna
Congradutations on the cyst being gone. I was faced with a simular delima with my surgery. The surgeon was 98% sure what I had was not cancer but with my family history of gyn cancers he gave me the option of having a total hysterectomy. I chose to have the total surgery to aleviate the questions and worry later down the road. It turned out that I had a form of dermoid cyst that was doubling in size every 2-3 weeks. So for the decision it was a little easier being that I also have all the children that I ever want. But this was the hardest decision that I have ever had to make.
Good luck with whichever route you chose to take.
Ashley
Hey Girl!!!!!!
Wonderful news!!!! I'm thrilled for you. If you do decide to go with a hysterectomy, I will be able to relate with you on the no HRT. I can't take it, either, because, I, too, have had blood clots. I'm really doing pretty good....a few hot flashes and some night sweats. It is hard to know what to do... a lot depends, basically, on how you feel physically, and emotionally, really, too. i'm sure some other ladies will jump on board with some ideas for you, too. Best of luck, to you, with what ever you decide!!!!
By the way, I enjoy your office board messages. Sometimes, they really "speak" to me. Thank-you for those contributions! Have a nice day (not sure what time it is by you0 or evening or both.
Hugs,
Shari
