Right side ovarian pain and heavy periods

In 1998 I was having severe pain on the right side lower abdomen.I went through numberous tests including an ultrasound {which showed nothing}and treated for different things none of which helped. It was then that they decided to do laproscopic surgery to explore my inside, they found a cyst the size of a golf ball, the doctor said that he drained but that if it ever came back they would need to remove my ovary. I had been paid free up until about a year and a half now. I am experiening the same symtems as in 1998 unfortunately the doctor that performed the surgery is no longer practicing,so I went to a doctor that was referred by a friend of mine. She sent me for an ultrasound {which showed nothing except for several follicules on my right ovary}.She decided to put me on continuous cycle birth control to keep me from ovulating.I have been on birth control for 6 months now and I am still having a period along with the pain and discomfort I sometimes get paid down my right leg and in my lower back.I am frustrated and feel like I should stop taking the birth control as it is not helping me.I am tired of having pain, should I get a second opinion?
What else can I do?
I am not needing to take birth control for preganancy prevention as I have had my tubes tied.

I am experiencing pain in my right ovary region and I am concerned that it could be a tubal pregnacy(my tubes are tied) or a cyst?  I had fibroids during my last pregnancy.
It is quite painful, I felt numbness in my arms with a tingling sensation b/c the pain was so sharp.  I just had an anual pap and an ultra sound b/c of my heavy, clotty periods.  They didnt see anything then, but they were looking at my uterous not my ovaries.
Should I go back to gyn now or wait it out??

A few years ago I was an egg donor (actually a few times), but after that retrieval I felt a discomfort around where my right ovary would be, the doctor than said it was normal and would go away with time. That was at least 5 years ago, now more and more recently I feel a burning pain, and when I lay on my back I can feel by  touch a harder "something" too, which also comes and goes.  I couldn't tie this symptoms to anything, I also have an irregular bleeding, despite I am on the pill and I am good at taking it regularly.
I don't have health insurance, and I am really scared what might be wrong with me, does anybody have any advice where to turn to in Chicago, which won't cost an arm and a leg for a diagnoses.
I am glad to hear that many of you have the same symptoms as I and it makes me feel better, hopefully all this is harmless, just very annoying.

I havee been having pain in my right overy for about 2 years. My last OBGYN told me not to come back till I can't satnd the pain anymore. Never told me what it was or why it was hurting. I never went back. Recently it has been hurting more than normal. It has been hurting everyday day now since my last period ended. (been 3 weeks.) It hurts on my right side, feels like it hurts in my hip and down my leg just above my knee. It used to feel like a smaller size (nickel size) pain, but now it seems like it is bigger (.50 pice). Should I be worried? I have had abnormal paps after my second daughter too. Des this sound like something any of you have experienced?

Actually, it is my understanding that losing one ovary only reduces your chances of having children by about 20%.  I have a close friend who had an ovary removed; she later married and had two children without any extra medical assistance like fertility pills or in-vitro procedures.

I had a similar pain experience, late diagnosed 3 cysts on my right ovarian.
But the pain is reduced by exercise a year ago. I walk 1 mile every day even when I was experiencing an extreme pain. Now I no longer use pain pill, and not that pain any more. Also drink lots of warm water during the period helps too.

Summary:
- exercise
- drink lots of warm water
- no coffee, no tea, no chocolate during the period
- drink soy milk everyday to replace milk

Thank you for your comment. Since I posted my story I have stopped taking the birth control as I once again started having break through bleeding. So now that it has been 4 days with the pill I am in so much pain, heavy bleeding, passing blood clots & lots of really bad cramping. I called my old midwife that delivered two of my boys and made an appointment with her for next Thursday. That peticular office also was involved with my treatment from the last issue I had in 1998. Hopefully she will have some answers or at least help me find some answers.

Thank you again!

Hi
I would get a second opinion as i have been told myself even if it doesnt have a different outcome it eases your mind. Your symptoms are very similar to mine, i have the pain in my right side also travelling down to my uterus, in my lower back and down my right leg. Its a dull ache pain everywhere apart from my right side which is very sharp especially if its pressed on (examinations). I have a cyst of 8cm by 6cm in size. They also didnt see this on the first ultrasound that i had, and im also on birth control pill, even thou im wanting to try for another baby. Sorry i dont have much advice for you, im thinking get a second opinion and maybe ask about endometreosis??
GOODLUCK!!
