Sage IIIA Grade 2

Sage IIIA Grade 2

By biopsy i was diagnosed with stage I and grade 1 endometrial adenocarcinoma on March 23, 2011. Then TAH/ BSO was performed on 4/6/2011 and 4 days after surgery they revised the path report and changed the diagnosis to Stage IIIA and Grade 2. There was no myometrium involvement but the found cancer cells on serosa of endometrium, serosa of left ovary, and serosa of fallopian tubes. Nodes were all negative and peritonial washing showed atypical cells but the can not call them cancerous. PET/CT was done on 5/23/2011 and it was negative. The Gyno/Oncologis wants to start on Chemo next Friday with Taxol and Carboplatin. My question is do I have to have Chemo even though the nodes are negative, peritonial washing is negative and PET/CT is negative.
I am very much worried about the side effects of Chemo.

Hi There,
chemotherapy with two drugs:
taxol and carboplatin
have become a standard recommendation for women with endometrial cancer who have high risk factors for recurrence.

Your cancer traveled to the outside of your uterus and to your ovary and fallopian tube.
This places you in danger of the cancer returning.

chemotherapy is a general term for medicine that is given intravenously that kills rapidly growing cells.
there are side effects to therapy but in general there are many tricks to reducing the side effects.

The long term side effects can be some chronic anemia and some neuropathy.
However most people recover form chemotherapy without any long term effects.
So I strongly agree with your doctor.

I know it is hard and scary but tehre will be many people who help you through
take care

Thank You very much for taking time to answer my question.
I will go for Chemo. But would you please let me know the tricks to minimize the side effects and i will discuss with my Gyno/Onc when I go for Chemo next friday.
I forgot to mention that my CA125 done on 3/5/11 was 37. And am still bothered that how it went to serosa of the left ovary, left tube and Uterous while there was no myometrium involvement. Eventhoug nodes are negative, PET/CT is negative then how it will come back if nothing is there now.

Thank You again for your help.
