Second opinion?

Second opinion?

Sorry this is so long. It's been quite a journey.

I am 37 years old. In January (of this year) I had an MRI to diagnose a herniated disk. The MRI also showed 2 small (less than 2 cm) cysts on my right ovary. I followed up with my GYN who sent me for a pelvic ultrasound. The ultrasound was done in March. It showed that the two cysts on my right ovary were pretty much unchangged, but there was a 4 cm cyst on left ovary that was not on the original MRI. GYN sent me for a MRI with contrast, but told me to wait until the same point in my menstrual cycle 2 months later. Went for the follow up MRI  the beginning of June. The cysts on the right are still there and less than 2 cm, but the one on the left had increased in size to 5.5 cm. The GYN sent me for a CA125, which was slightly elevated to 41. Went for a follow-up ultrasound yesterday, the tech would not give me any information, I have to wait until Monday afternoon to get a copy of the results.

I do not think my GYN is being proactive. The cyst on the left keeps getting bigger. The CA125 is not a reliable test. I also have a history of cervical cancer (stage 2, 13 years ago). I made an appointment with a GYN oncologist for a second opinion, but now I'm having second thoughts. Should I just wait and continue with my regular GYN?

Hi there
thank you for your complete information.
I think you should get a second opinion with the gyn oncologist because of your history.
However, I think your gyn has been doing the right thing.at some point, though, if the cysts keep growing, you should have them surgically removed
best wishes
