Seeking second opinion for treatment pointless?

My fifty-year-old sister was diagnosed with stage IV extra-ovarian cancer November 2003, having undergone a complete hysterectomy eight years prior.  At the time of her diagnosis, the tumor was 5cm x 7cm x 11cm.  The doctor chose not to perform surgery, hoping that her first round of chemo (Taxol) would shrink the tumor.  It did not, and she developed a very serious abscess in her lower abdomen.  In April 2004, she began taking an experimental chemo drug, Gemzar, and seemed to be doing much better.  Her CA125 dropped from 1100 (at the time of diagnosis) to just below 150.  However, about three weeks ago she began having horrible stomach cramps and severe ascites build-up.  Her doctor started her on a new chemo drug, DOXYL, and she has had one treatment so far (treatments are every four weeks).  While we do not have all three dimensions, we do know that her tumor has grown from 5cm to 7cm.  Now she is in the hospital for a complex fistula
