I am no expert by any means but i too have a complex cyst that is the size of a soft ball and they tell me that complex means it is solid form and that they aren't sure what they have in them that makes them complex but i would get another dr for a second opinion since 2 heads are better than one. they wanted to watch mine for 4 more months and i am not sure i want to do that so i am seeking another opinion and also no insurance so that is going to be hard to do since i had to fight to get to see this dr and noone else will even talk to me about it.but i hope every thing works out for you good luck hope to hear from you on the board there are alot of smart people here to help you that is why i post here too!
Cysts by definition are filled with fluid. However, complex cysts contain septations (or walls) within them. Some complex cysts, such as the one that I had, contain solid components in addition to the septations. The presence of solid components and septations - especially if the septations are very thick, do indicate an increased risk of malignancy. However, the statistics that I have either read or have been told indicate these risks to run some 3 to 5 percent. Even simple (non-septated) cysts still have a risk of some 1 to 2 percent chance of being cancer.
Just had Abdominal/vaginal ultrasound and have multiple septated complex cysts. Have been having hard time finding good quality info. CA-125 blood test is still pending...anyone with helpful places to read more re: these type cysts, would appreciate...thanks
