Septated mass/family history

Hello,
I am frantically trying to find information about how to handle my situation.  I have 3 masses, septated, on my right ovary.  My mother had OC at age 43 and survived.  There is also a strong history of BC in my family. My ob/gyn and gyn/oncologist have recommended that I have both ovaries and tubes removed even though the masses are not large(2cm),  Is this a somewhat radical move?  I am wondering if I should just had the masses biopsied or have the ONE ovary removed.  I am 45 with a 2 year old.  Have not gone through menopause. Any advice would be so greatly appreciated...
Thanks!

I am sorry that you did not get a response.  Do you plan on having more children?  It is a hard call, and it should maybe be strongly discussed with your family and doctors, and maybe even getting a second oppinion.  Have you ever been tested for the BCRA gene?  Not that that eliminates your risk either, as my mother had breast cancer at age 40 and I had Ovarian Cancer at age 39.  So glad to hear that your mom is a Survivor!!

Sounds like you are pro-active with your health, so research and keep the lines of communication open with your doctors to make the best decision possible.

Good Luck.
