I had my first and only pap smear done last year (Im 19) and it came out as abnormal. I didnt think it was a big deal because I heard its very common to get an abnormal test and that usually the body fixes the changes itself so I never went back in.
Last summer I started to get irregular periods though..they would come every other week or two weeks when they had previously been regular. Then I didnt have a period for two months.
Between February and halfway into March I gained 30 pounds suddenly and started feeling bloated really bad.
Now, Im going on my 4th month without a period at all and I've been experiencing sharp shooting pains in my pelvic area where my ovaries are.
I finally made an appointment yesterday and Im going to it today but I just thought I'd ask if it seems like it could be ovarian cancer, PCOS or something else? Should I be worried?
They did tell me to come back for a repeat pap 6 months later but I didnt. I honestly didnt think it was a big deal.
I just wanted to update:
I saw my doctor today and she gave me a pelvic exam and sent me for bloodwork of course. She also scheduled an ultrasound though because she says I might have cysts. What can I expect? I've never had an ultrasound before.
She didnt tell me what to do about my pain or lack of periods in the meantime though.... =(
