Should I be concerned about this cyst being cancer

I recently was treated by my regular doctor for an ovarian cyst. She put me on birth control for about 5 months tosee if the size of the cyst would reduce. Well, it got bigger by about 1.5cm. I was also treated for a bladder infection because she said my red cell count was up when she did a urinalysis test.  I was referred to a gynecologist and he did an ultrasound in his office and told me I had a cyst that was lodged in my left pelvic area and it was on my ovary. It also showed a some fluid build up in my pelvic area. The GYN doctor told me not to worry right now about cancer since noone in my family has ever had ovarian cancer and he said usually cancer when you have it hurts.
I am having pain and it shoots up my back when I am sitting and I have this full feeling sometimes and bloating most of the time. He did say my Uterus was enlarged and I do have history of Fibroid which I have 2-4 right now that really haven't hurt me over the years. He wants to do surgery to take the ovary out and check the cyst or he said I could have a historectomy.  He said I have all the requirements to have one.  I really at loss and worried if I have cancer or can you have the same kind of symptoms and just have a regular cyst that needs to be removed. My grandmother died of stomache cancer and my grandfather has prostate cancer that is detained and is living well. I also have genital warts that I am being treated for and wondered if any of these symptoms can come from this?  Alot going on and worried too much! I am 39 with one child 3 years old.

I wish I could give you some helpful advice however, I can't.  I just wanted to share that I was diagnosed with a cyst on my ovary three years ago.  The doctor told me that it might be removed and advised that I come back in one month and have another ultrasound to check it out.  I never went back.  That was in 2001.  Last year, in December, I started having severe abdominal pain accompained by severe nausea.  Then ultimately I would vomit and feel fine.  Until the next episode.  It would repeat itself over and over again.  I finally went to my doctor and then to a gastrologist.  I never did mention the cyst because they said it had to be digestive since it was vomiting.  They did find an ulcer, however he doesn't think that is why I am vomiting.  Does any of this sound familiar to you?  Did you go to the doctor and get the final results?  What were they?  Hope you are doing well.

I went on Friday for a transvaginal ultrasound because of some symptons from menopause that didn't seem quite right.  I have been feeling really crummy for about the last two years - horrible hot flashes and night sweats, sudden weight gain (which I've never had a problem with), but the worst thing is that I have been having terrible nausea and vomiting that lasts for one day and then I start my period the next day.  The strange thing is that I went for almost an entire year without having a period and then, out of the clear blue sky, the vomiting started and I started having a period again.  I can not stand feeling like this anymore, so I finally went to see my doctor and had the ultrasound done.  They found a "tumor" (that's what the doctor called it) on my left ovary, several fibroid cysts (which I know are pretty common) and the doctor that read the ultrasound said I have varicose veins in my right ovary.  He looked at me and said "you must be feeling pretty awful all the time!".  I was actually so glad that he acknowledged that I must be feeling bad, because I thought I was making a mountain out of a molehill because other doctors I have been seeing have just been dismissing me as just another "menopausal woman" (I am 48 years old).  But now, I am very scared because I started reading about symptons for ovarian cancer and am wondering if this sounds like something I should be worried about.  After getting the results on Friday, my primary care doctor is sending me back to my OB/GYN doctor to see if he wants to schedule surgery to remove the "tumor".  I am worried about this being cancerous and wondering what the chances are that it could be cancer.  I have been having terrible low back pain, absolutely no energy and get very sleepy all through the day.  Can anyone share any advice about this?  Has anyone ever gone through this vomiting thing?  That's what has my doctor baffled.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you so much.
