Simple to Complex cyst

Hi Dr.-

I was diagnosed with a 3 cm simple cyst on my left ovary back in November after a pelvic exam and US. In Jan. I went for a f/u US and now my doc called it "complex" but it was smaller at 1.6 cm. I went for a CA 125 and they said my results were equivocal at 21. I am going for a third US next week.

Is this normal to be watching and waiting for so long without having a diagnosis as to what's on my ovary?

Hi Vanessa,
It sounds like you are having a very appropriate evaluation. Most cysts are normal and are related to a woman's menstrual cycles. Complex just means there is a little debris in the cyst. It is probably just shrinking and going away.
