Size of cyst vs. size of cyst with enlarged ovary!

My Jan. US had a septated cyst measuring 2.2 x 1.9 x 1.6 cm.

The ovary was 3.3 x 2.4 x 3.4 cm.

My April US had the same cyst as 2.2 x 2.1 x 2 cm.

The ovary was up to 4.7 x 5 x 3.2 cm.

The US tech says the cyst "looks different" and said the septation was "thicker".

The DR says the cyst is "stable, unchanged". They don't know if it's a collection of follicles or hemorrhagic.

So what is the distinction between a stable cyst (but the US says words that red flag this more to me!) and an OVARY that is larger?!

I'm going to see about a referral to a gyn/onc today!

Hi, i can not help in terms of possible cancer or not, but i can tell you that w/ my ovarian cyst, the u/s showed my ovary to be double in size w/ a lemon sized cyst on it, after laperotomy, it was discovered that i actually had two cysts one on top of the other that was not detectable by u/s, the cyst attached to my ovary grew inward making the ovary enlarge. I lost 1/3 of that ovary along w / the cysts (mine were endometriomias)
Good luck to you!

Welcome!  Try to remember that 99% of ovarian cysts are benign, that doesn't mean that you can ignore your symptoms.  You are doing the right thing by getting a 2nd opinion from a gyn/onc.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Godspeed
