Solid mass on rt. ovary

Hello, I'm 30 years old and have had simple cysts on both ovaries for about 10 years.  Have had lots of pain, abnormal bleeding, all that good stuff.  I just had US done and was told that there is a solid mass on rt ovary 3cm-4cm.  Had CT scan done,(5 weeks later) and it was the same as the US.  DR. referred me to GYN.  I was hoping that some of you that have been through this could offer me some advice. Does this need to come out very soon since it is all solid? Should I be asking for a GYN/ONC? My hubbys in the army, so I have to go through the army doctors.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well, it is your lovely wife's body, so she knows, if the pain is serious or not. She should ask for second appointment with someone else.

Thank you Simply Star for your reply.  I'm so grateful for this forum.  I just registered today, and already I have read many, many posts.  It's sad that so many women are going through this, but it's nice to know that so many of you are sharing and helping others....especially those of you that have been dx with cancer and/or have loved ones that have/had cancer.  Thank you and God Bless.

My wife has or had (we don't know anymore) a cyst on her ovary. She had an US done a month ago and they found saw the mass on her ovary and one on her uterus.  She's had multiple tests and finally her gyno sent her to the gyn/onc who informed her that she wasn't concerned about it, gave her some birth control pills and sent her on her way. The birth control pills made her sick so she stopped taking them and scheduled an appt with her gyno again. He was outraged that the specialist didn't take her seriously and is seeing her twice a week now to try and rule out everything he can to move the process along. I am also in the military and currently in Iraq. She understands the medical system but she forgets the doctors she see's are in the military and they all have bosses. If you are concerned and don't get a diagnosis or the doctors try and tell you something crazy use the patient advocate line and file a complaint. Good luck.

yes it would be best to get a second opinion from an onoco.  if they decide on surgery they are the best trained for this.
