Stage 3

Hi, my mom is diagnosed to have stage 3 cancer, what are the chances that she will survived? She had an earlier surgery wherein doctors taught that it is just a "mayoma" but during the operation they saw little lumps in the intestine at a small lump in the liver. Her ovaries are removed together with the mayoma. And even though the biopsy result was not yet release they concluded that it is already stage 3. Please help me understand the situation because I does know any thing besides cancer causes death.
