Stage1A Grade1

Stage1A Grade1

I was diagnosed in January 2003 with ovarian cancer.  The tumour which arose in the left ovary was a well differentiated (grade1) endometrioid adenocarcinoma.  It was confined to one ovary.  Can you please tell me whether chemotherapy is offered/given to patients in the States with stage1a diagnosis. I had surgery with everything removed inc cervix and ommentum.  No further treatment recommended.  I still worry that i havent had adequate treatment.  Thanks.

Hi I too was diagnosed just in December 08 with Endometroid cancer of the ovary and uterus Stage 1 A. I had Total Hysterctomy removal of Cervix and Ommentum. My Lymph glands were checked in a second operation. I was told by my Gynacologist that the plan would be regulare monitoring of my pelvis and Ca 125.

How are you doing now are you still being checked Regards Scoob

the date on this post is  may 2004   I also believe you might have made a typo  in  your dx date    as Dec 2008   is not here yet,

I too have been dx stage 1a grade 1 in Feb. 08.  I had goblet cell carcinoid contained in ovary.  The dr. said no chemo but just watch me closely.

Take care,
Dawnlyn

My mom was diagnosised stage 1a in Dec 07.  She had squamous cell arising from a dermoid cyst (very, very rare in someone 72).  She recurred in late January before a CT scan could be completed.  They said it was due to the rarity of her kind.  Typically the squamous cell would be in a younger girl rather than eldery.

Sounds like yours is different.

Best of luck,

Karen

Ask the Dr. I believe it is very common not to give chemotherapy for stage 1A grade 1 epithelial ovarian cancer. In the 2007 article I read out of England they did mention for all cell types other than clear cell. You are very fortunate to be at the lowest stage and grade. Statistically, swear word, but in this case appropriate, you have a very good prognosis.

Gosh i just came across my post that i desperately wrote back in 2004.  Well i made it to my 5 years and i dont see my oncologist any more but i still have regular ca125 tests done by the gp.  I sincerely hope you are all doing well and that this gives some reassurance  to anybody else out there with the same diagnosis as i had.
