Stomach Pains with IP Chemo

Stomach Pains with IP Chemo

I have been having excruciating pains in my stomach for a little over a week. I have completed 6 sessions of the IP/IV therapy. My last chemo session was 3 weeks ago. Has anyone doing the IP therapy expierenced this? The pains are very sharp and consistant. It kinda of feels like the pain you get when you have a side ache, but it is worse and does not go away. The pain also moves around my stomach, it is never in the same place. It is utterly excruciating. I had a CT scan done last week, and it doesn't show any blockage in my intestins, and all of my blood work looks fine. The doctors basically have no answers for me, but I know that this cannot be normal...it is too painful to be normal. I would love to speak with someone going through the IP therapy. Or if you know anyone that has expierenced these pains. Thank you.

I'm sorry to hear you're having such pain after everything you've been through. It's good to hear the CT scan and bloodwork look okay.

I had IP/IV chemo. Has your IP port been removed? Mine did not come out until 6 weeks after all chemo was completed and caused mild discomfort (stomach pains) until it was removed.

Another possibility is a hernia. Of course, it could be something else beyond those two ideas. As you know, something is causing it and if your gyn/onc and medical onc have no answers, call one of them right away and ask to see one of their colleagues for a second opinion if they can not determine the cause.

All the best,
Westgal

I had ip Cisplatin.  I had such severe pain I ended up in the hospital.  It was not from the Chemo but the port.  They gave me lyrica and it cleared up  If I went off the lyrica the pain started again.  Of course the doctors thought it had to be more but all tests were clean.  From the day they put the port in I had some discomfort on and off, like it was sitting on a nerve.  it took four treatments for it to really act up.  Once it was removed and I went off the Lyrica I still had slight discomfort but it is fine now.  Hang in there
