Surgery Next week

Finally after so many years I am going to have a surgery to remove one ovary. My doc said if he cannot have it out using labocroscopy he has to open it about 9 cm cut. I am concerned with the size he descriped.

The surgery will take at least one and half hour. Is it too long?

Surgery is scary. Try to be positive and remember the Surgeon is just a person like you and me. Doing his job and wanting to do it well !!! Soon, I am to have a full hysterectomy by Spinal Injection. Whatever the procedure - to be afraid, is normal. If you can be relaxed and try not to bother yourself with the ins and the outs of your surgery this time can be a time when you concentrate on getting better. Overcoming the hurdle in your body that is causing you pain. I do not know you but i will be thinking of you and am praying for you too. Have faith and before you know it - this will all have passed. foreverfriends1

Thank you for the encouragement. I am very nervous and scared, just pretend everything is normal. It's hard on the day of surgery. I am going to have it done 9/2.

The doc is nice. He said he was going to do it, but he needs help from resident.

THank you once again. It is hard to talk to my relative. They think the anxiety is not necessary and it is not a big deal.

Really appreciated your understanding.
Thanks,

I had a resident in with my Dr durng the surgery, but apparently she was only there to watch and maybe for help if needed, not exactly sure. She was quite nice and came to see how I was doing in the admission unit before heading to surgery. Im sorry you're not comfortable with yours, that of course doesn't make things easier for you.

Anytime I felt uneasy or my anxiety was on high or just simply had yet another question, I would call my Dr and just sort of *check in* and let him know that I have more questions or am feeling unsure or scarde about something. He was always there to talk and reassure me. I hope you have the same sense of *open door* with your Dr. It really helps. Feel free to ask all the questions you have. You have the right to ask and wonder and have all these thoughts and worries going through your head.

Don't forget to think positiveand breathe through these times and know that you will be ok and this will be over before you know it.

It's a hurdle to cross and we're here with you...

Best of luck to you!

I just had a ceasarian type incision to remove a dermoid cyst from my right ovary. My Dr anticipated an hour and a hlf surgery but it took about an hour or so.

It wasnt as difficult as I imagined. I had it done this past Thursday the 25th and was discharged Saturday.

Ask God for strength, this IS what got me through it. This and all the prayers and good wishes all around me form family and friends. I had strength that I didn expect to have and so far it's been very tolerable.

Good luck and dont worry.

Thank you for the helpful information. The dermoid is 1.5 cm but I had a surgery about 7 years ago. So Doc is afraid of adhesion, which will cause the problem during the surgery.

Also I don't like the fact the resident will help the doc during the surgery even he promised he was the one  who will do it. I still don't like the appreareance of resident. But he needs four hands handling it. I am not sure I could have the resident out of the procedure.

I am going to have it done in Barn-jewish hospital. Anyone had experience there.

Thanks,

PS
you don't want them to rush it.

I don't see why a laparoscopy isn't enough esp if its not enlarged.  Good Luck.  Doesn't sound too long.  My laparoscopy this Monday will be the same amount of time.
