Surgery Thursday!

I'm 23 and I'm having surgery to remove a 9cm cyst on Thursday. I'm kinda freaking out a bit. They are removing my left ovary and tube as well. I start the bowel prep tomorrow at 12:30, is that as bad as everyone is making it sound? Will i really be sitting in the bathroom all day?
Also, they are saying that they are doing a laperscopy (Sp?) and may have to do the bigger surgery...I'm a bigger girl over 300lbs...aren't my chances for infection greater?
I'm sorry for all the questions, just nervous!

Thanks for all the help! BP is actually sitting in the fridge waiting for noon. I did have another question,I started my period on Friday and it's still running pretty strong and I've noticed A LOT of clots. I've heard that lots of clots aren't good, is that true?

Thanks!

Plan on spending the day in the bathroom. I know I did, but my bowels and so forth was very clean and empty going into surgery, reducing chance of infection and other potential complication. I looked at it like giving my bowels a new, fresh start. I decided to only put health fruits vegetables and whole grains into my body. So far 8 weeks later, I have been good except for the occasional chocolate and ice cream! You will feel so much better. ps, I had a laparotomy with a 5 inch incision. I healed great, followed doctor's orders and the scar is already fading nicely. I am 45.

I personally didn't think the bowel prep was THAT bad....sure, I went a lot, but I used those flushable wet wipes, and didn't even get sore. When my mom had her surgery, she ended up with some complications that required resectioning her colon, and her doctor said if she hadn't done her bowel prep, she would have ended up with a colostomy. I'm not saying that to imply that anything like that will happen to you, but a few hours in the bathroom is a small price to pay, all things considered. Hang in there...I'm three weeks out and feeling great! The worst part is the waiting. Keep us posted!

Make sure you have some petroleum jelly. Use it on the bum. It helps tramendously.  Your backside won't be as sore from all the wiping.
