Surgery during Chemotherapy

by kmoe, Mar 26, 2007 12:00AM
Haven't been able to ask the Dr. yet so I am posting here. My sister needs a diversion colostomy to repair a fistula causing pain. She has had two chemos with CA-125 going from 195 to 95 and now 18.9 two weeks before third chemo this Thursday. Can she have the sugery, laproscopic I think, during chemo, say after 3 or 4 rounds or should she wait until end? Her Dr. says it's up to her. I am a little worried as it would delay chemo by one to two weeks and she has supposedly a faster growing grade 3 cancer. She is in pain but I wouldn't risk not getting all the cancer. Any comments?

can't she get both? I'd be worried about not getting chemo too.
