Surgery scheduled

My consultation with the gyne/onc is November 6th and surgery is November 8th. The cyst was 15 cm at last measure, which was 1 month ago. I'm actually excited to get the surgery over with.

ANything I should know/prepare for?

Someone suggested that I shave my genital area a day or two before?

i've heard that most doctors/hospitals don't want patients to do it themselves.  why don't you ask your dr's nurse?  hopefully they have some sort of check list they can provide, too.  good luck :)

last time i had a lap i arrived at hospital and was given a disposable razor and what looked like a jam tart case with some foam in and told to go and have a shave!!!

Very nice - not sure what the procedure is now but in my experience every hospital and even every surgeon has their own way of doing things, so I would probably check with them.

Hi there, no don't shave before.  I just had surgery and they asked if I shaved I said no, was I supposed to?  They said no, we don't like you to do it but some people do.  Try to stay busy and perhaps walk every night to get yourself into better shape for the surgery.  Each little bit you do for yourself the better you recover.  Your doctors office should give you a list of what they want before the surgery.  Good luck and you will feel much better when its done!!  Merytre

Make sure you have plenty of comfy clothes. Nothing tight around the middle. I found it easier to sleep in a recyliner for the first couple of nights. Also have a little pillow with you at all times. Just in case you sneeze or cough. You can hold you belly. Some women used it in the car for between the seat belt and incision. There has been threads on here about the little things to make after surgery easier they should be in the archives.
