Surgery went well

I am so thankful to everyone for their thoughts and prayers.  My surgery went well.  I had a laparoscopy and my dr removed a golfball sized fibroid ( cancer free) from the back side of my uterus.  Did not know it was there.  Thought it was on ovary. My question is when does this gassy feeling go away.  I can lay down without feeling it and when I get up it feels like my whole insides drop and crackle.  Is this normal. what is the best thing to do?

yes that gassy feelings is normal i did a laparotoy 10 days now and still fell that gassy discomfort,but it eased up alot.
guess we have to give it sometime,drink cups of hot tea and take short walks.

I had laparscopy in Aug'06..that trapped gas is NOT fun eh? its the worst part.Nothing much  helps to relieve it but by trying to walk as much as possible that is comfortable for  you,and sitting up more often helped me,in few days your body will absorb it( took me week)I tried gas-x pills,it did help a little but not much,like leslie said hot tea is good (chamomile or fennel seed)but check with dr first because herbal teas might cause reaction with certain med's.Good luck to you!

you can all laugh  but this is what I was told for the trapped gasses after my many lapo's.  get on a bed on all fours, bend the front half down and lay your head on a pillow or something, with your rear in the air, and rock forwards and back as much as is comfortable. With your rear in the air this will force the gasses there instead of up to your shoulders. It should give you some relief. your body has to absorb the gases and you will burp and fart some out.  Good luck to you both and hopefully this helps you.  It did for me

I found peppermint oil(with a little warm water)or mints helped. If it starts to move make sure you are on your own cause boy does it stink!Dawn
