Sweet Words

My mum went for surgery early this morning. I met up the doctors after the surgery. 'Optimal debulking' - the 2 sweetest words I ever heard. The 3 chemo sessions really help - when the doctors opened up my mother - they found it, in their words 'amazingly clean' and could only see very few small spots of cancer which could be removed easily. No wonder the chemo doctor swear that he is 'very sure' that the cancer would be gone by chemo alone even without the surgery.  The doctors said that my mum really responded well to the 3 chemo sessions well. Now the thing my mum needs to do is to get well and quickly resume on the 3 remaining chemo sessions for insurance. To tell the truth, I am slightly taken aback - hey, even the doctors themselves are very happy when they opened up my mother. They told me that not everyone responded to chemo well and it is truly amazing when they compare my mum's first CT scan and the current condition.

My mum is almost immediately awake after the operation and alert. I knew she is alert when once in the ward, the following conversation occurs:

Mom: 'Dear, can you switch on the TV'.
Me: 'Ok, which channel you want to see?'
Mom: 'Check for me the share prices of AAA shares, BBB shares and CCC shares. And also check for me whether the market is up for Hong Kong and Taipei. Oh, and did the stock broker called during my surgery?'
Me:'.................'

I must say I am happy with the results. But....also apprehensive at the same time....and I am especially frightened of the possibility of the big R in future. But one thing at a time. Things are looking up - CA125 dropped to 15 and optimal debulking. And we still have the 3 chemo session for added insurance.

Grteat news to hear.  When I woke up my first words were are my dogs okay?  I have a momma and her 2 pups.. I knew they were missing me..

Love your Mom, typical Chinese mama!!! So glad to hear that she responded well to the chemo, although I do believe that the combination of the chinese herbs helped the chemo do what it was suppose to do.
The last 3 chemoes will be easy for her, then maintain the herbs will help keep the R away....Now take a deep breath and lean back on your chair and let it all out!!! She is lucky to have such a great daughter by her side.

Thanks for all the kind words. My mum is waiting for the go ahead to start eating. Ever since after the surgery, she has been complaining that she is hungry and she needs REAL food. The doctor did not even allow her to drink water so I have to keep ordering ice from the pantry for her to suck.
