Swollen stomach & numbness after laparotomy

by bonbon1981, Jun 18, 2007 12:00AM
Hi Ladies~
I'm 25 yrs old. Last year I had a laparotomy done (August 29, 2006). This was for a pretty big cyst on my uterus, I also had half of my left tube & half of my left ovary removed.
Now it's June 2007 (about 10 months later), My stomach is still pretty swollen & feels numb when I touch it.
I'm wondering how long will it take for the swolleness & numbness to completely be gone? For some reason the scars I have on my stomach for some reason became Keloid scars. I'm wondering also is that normal for that to happen?
Thanks,
Bonnie

i don't know about the swelling or numbness but i have pretty bad keloid scars.  my doc keeps telling me it's just because i'm a keloid healer.  she says some people just heal that way and some don't.  mine's pretty bad because my tummy has been growing from pregnancy but apparently the keloid part is normal.

Hi There

I have went through a laparotomy to remove a 8lb cyst 3 weeks ago, also removed my right ovary (I am 28)

I dont have a swollen stomach but my scar is slighly hard at the top although seems to be healing fine (I also have a keliod scar) do you think this is why my scar is going this way?

Thanks

Gillian
