Based on my experience, I would guess that if she did not concentrate on any particular area for a great lenght of time then the technician might not have found anything serious.
Your symptoms might have changed if you had a cyst that resolved on its own. You might have fibroidsFibroid tumors Uterine fibroids, or perhaps endometriosis. The fact that the symptoms worsen as your period approaches is typical of endometriosis. There are still some bladder conditions, like the "over active" bladder they discuss on all of those television ads, that might cause some of your symptoms. As another woman discussed, there are food allergies and other intestinal disfunctions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome that might be at work here as well. And always bear in mind that there might be several problems working at once down there, not just one! Resolving the symptoms might take a broader approach than just treating a single problem.
It's still hard to find a comfortable sleep posistion at night if I lay on either side I get a mild cramping pressure that travles around to the back or top of leg. My weight and appetite haven't changed but my lower abdomen is getting bigger and I don't feel bloated. Also every now and agian i feel a bit or pressure just above the groin area on either side of my pelvic area I'm guessing this is the ovary area. Is typical of a fibroid??? Also am I looking at surgery to correct this problem or can the pill help maybe??
I just can't get over the fact how very similar our symptoms are. I just had my TVU on Tuesday and basically the same .. lots of pictures taken.. and I was told the same that the results would be given to my doctor in a few days.
And as for the bloating ... just tonight I was thinking that I was not having the bloating thing as much..
I will keep you posted as I am interested to see if there are any of the same conclusions.
And MickeyVicki if you read this.. you give the best advice! I am sure everyone on this site really appreciates you..
Thank you for your kind words. When I was diagnosed last year with my large, scary cyst, I found the best advice on the tests, the surgery, and the recovery from the women posting on this site. They had already been through, or were going through at the same time, the process that I was experiencing.
Out of gratitude for these women's advice, their words of encouragement, and the grace of God for sparing me from a cancer which I have seen kill, I decided that for one year I would revisit the site, with the intention of helping others as I had been helped. I do so hope that I have been of assistance to some of the women reading this forum.
Your compassion certainly comes through your words of caring support. I certainly have been benefiting from your help.
I am still just waiting to hear my results. Most important for all of us is to keep good things going on. I don't watch the news because it is either depressing or upsetting. Enjoy family as much as you can. And, as you said research is very important because there is so much the doctor doesn't tell you.
And if all works out well hope to never take it for grannit ever again. Every Day is a Gift from God. I plan to use them wisely. God desides everything.
Your symptoms sound very close to what I just recently had. They did find that my uterus was attached to my ovary and that I had another ovarian cyst. I started to get pain in my groin area and it went around my hip to my back (which made me confused because I couldn't tell if it was my back pain or was it coming from my groin area). The doctor told me a cyst could cause groin and thigh pain that radiates to the back in some cases.
You mentioned you went through this a year ago..What where your symptoms leadding up to and including once it was found, untill after surgery?? what promted you to seek medical attention?/ I hope you don't mind me asking?
I had a 10cm cyst in February that I "thought" I had a kidney infection but when they did an ultrasound they found the cyst (which is was 7.6cm on Thursday night) by Monday a.m. it grew to 10cm and they did laproscopy on me Tuesday a.m. to remove it. I still had the kidney pain after that and this time around (after IVP showed nothing...hmmmmm) that my right ovary was attached to the uterus, and I had another cyst (which they removed) on my ovary. I do not know the size of that yet - I have a follow up this week to talk to the doctor. Last year, I had a cyst rupture from my right ovary that took me to the floor. It hurt BAD.
My symptoms (which I kinda knew this time that I thought I had another cyst) was because when I walked my groin started to pull and my side hurt. The pain sometimes radiated down my leg and thigh - esp in the back of my leg. I laid around alot and that seemed to help eliviate the pain. I also would get these sharp shooting pains right in the ovary area but they would last a couple of seconds. I also noticed right before the surgery that when I got these shooting pains - the pulling in my groin would immediately follow.
I am having the same pain, It starts around where the cyst is on my left ovary and then radiates to my kidney area on the left side and then down in my groin area.I am suppose to try to go to the doctor tomorrow but i have to go through the e r because i go through charity hospital..Dont know what they will do cause my laparotomy surgery is not till january..Hope they do another ultrasound to make sure everything is alright cause yesterday the pain was so bad yesterday i dont think i could take another day like that...and the nausia is getting to where when it hits i dont even have time to make it to the bathroom before i vomit.. do ya think mine is attatching to my kidney cause mine is complex with solids and cystic components.. could that be bad.. and hey micki vicki
Hi, glad to see that you are still well enough to check in on us! The likely problem is that everything is being pressed together in there, then the muscles, tissues, and organs cannot function properly, and that hurts. I know; the last few days before my surgery, I was hurting too. Of course, things were starting to grow together inside of my abdomen as well, and when the cyst and ovary were taken out, there was a large, "raw" place in my abdomen.
These are the symptoms of ovarian cysts: Menstrual irregularities.
Pelvic pain - a constant or intermittent dull ache that may radiate to your lower back and thighs. Pelvic pain shortly before your period begins or just before it ends. Pelvic pain during intercourse
Nausea, vomiting or breast tenderness similar to that experienced during pregnancy
Fullness or heaviness in abdomen.
Pressure on bladder - difficulty emptying your bladder completely.
Sudden, severe abdominal or pelvic pain
Pain accompanied by fever or vomiting
It does have some of the same symptoms of IBS, but ovarian cyst have more symptoms or distinct symptoms. Like the pelvic pain or peroid changes. Overactive bladder have even less symptoms like the urge to urinate, accidents, and urinate frequently. Have your doctor check you for cyst especially if it deals with some of the things that IBS and overactive bladder does not deal with.
