Symptons, which test should I ask doctor?

Isa
Since about a month ago I have been having this rare symptoms like diahrrea, right ovary area pain and pelvic discomfort, sometimes like stabbing and burning feeling on that side..then I started having low back pain on the same side. Sometimes I feel like if I am going to get period, but nothing happens, just the pelvic discomfort. I went to my primary doctor. He took an xray of my lower back.  He said I have a spam and an osteofite.  Could a spam be reflected on an xray?   He prescribed some medicines.  Well, I am really confussed because I don't think my pain on the right ovary area could be related to that. I am 50. Except once that I have period two times on a month and that I usually was geting period on the fith, then I had it on the 14, besides that I can say they are regular.  Still having that pain, last night I had it real strong, but only in the ovary area, then today I had the burning sensation from my waist to the lower back and then that pain. Then that burning sensation during the day. It bothers feeling that almost all day.   I think I have to go to the gyn but I am really scared because I have read that back pain could be an ovary cancer symptom  when cancer is on 111 or 1V stage. I don't have that much money to pay for many tests, so I would like to know which tests can be done for these symptoms besides the pelvic an pap that the doctor do in his office. Wish the best to all.

Hope everything comes out okay for you. I had the pelvic and abdominal ctscan today.  Results on Friday, so I will tell you about them. Let me tell you that about 15 years ago I had polycistic ovaries and the doctor only gave me some pills for that...but the symptoms I am having right are not the same for that time as I could remember... well, let's keep in touch...
good for you that dont have to pay for the tests, so dont delay and have any test your doctor ordered... I had to wait until today for mine because I had to pay $150.00. But it is worth becuase you clear out doubts and worries... good luck...

Hi!!
Sabrina, I went to the gyn on august 2. I had a PAP test and a pelvic. I have to wait for PAP results.  Besides that the doctor performed a sonogram in his office.  He said I have fibrosis on the uterus.  He said he couldnt find (see)  my ovaries, so he ordered a pelvic and abdominal ctscan and estradiol and fsh test.  Besides that, he gave me a prescription for yeast infection (terazol), just that. And told me: " let's see what the ctscan tell us". I have to wait until next thursday (august 11) to have it performed because right know I dont have the money to pay for them ($120.00).  But I still have the same pain and burning sensation.   Also I am feeling bloating sometimes... well, hope everything comes out okay... I will tell you the ctscan results...let us know about what your doctor tell you... the worst for me is the period of time I have to wait for those test, then wait for results, wondering what is happening...i know something is going wrong but what? I know those symptoms could be another thing but waiting test and results is so depressing... good luck to you too, sabrina...

Hi Isa,
I understand you concerns, I have been having simular symptoms
and more. I had the sonogram yesterday and won't know untill monday. I am 49 and thought my syptoms were peri-menopose. Can you get emergency Medical to help pay for tests? There has to be a way, ask the Dr. he or she may know.

Back pain can be confused for lower abdominal pain if the nerves serving that area of the body are being compressed in the spinal area.   Sometimes women with large ovarian cysts or tumor mistakenly believe they have pain in their hips or legs, when in reality the cyst or tumor is just pressing on the nerves serving the hips and legs. And I must confess that while I know what an osteophyte is, I have no idea what a spam is.

Your doctor will likely review the medical tests that have already been done, and then perhaps order an ultrasound of the abdomen.  The doctor might also request other imaging such as a CAT or MRI.

You can best prepare for the appointment with the doctor by carefully taking notes of your symptoms, and compiling them in a written list.  You will likely be nervous during the appointment, and you will not want to miss any symptoms while discussing these with the doctor.

Still having these burning sensation on the right side.  I remembered that last year I had herpes zoster on that side. Well, reading all the postings, I realized I am specting some advise but I am not going to get it...and if so, it will be : find a good gyn... But I also realized that you feel a little better when you know there are other persons hoping everything is okay with you... Today is friday, I am really nervous, the pain is hurting a lot, but I cannot go to a doctor until Monday. My question was which test should I asked for?  I think I would have to asked for all the ones available on that matter.
