Taxol Maintenance Chemo

Taxol Maintenance Chemo

I have just completed 5 of 12 cycles of monthly taxol maintenance therapy.  My ca-125 has stayed about the same as where it was when I completed my first line therapy.  It bounces around within a range of 17-22 but it hasn't come down with the taxol. Does it typically continue to fall with taxol, especially in a case where there is still plenty of room to decline (as opposed to someone who was <10 after first line therapy)?   If the ca-125 doesn't change, is there any way of knowing whether this chemo is doing me any good?
Thank you for any information you can provide.

I've just completed 7 of 8 scheduled taxol/carbo treatments for stage 4 OC. My CA125 leveled off at about 14 three sessions ago, and my oncologist says that is most likely my number. My PET Scan last week showed no evidence of previous mets to peritoneum, liver and mesentary area - it was read as a normal scan. So, 14 .5+ or - appears to be a valid number for me even though it's 'higher' than some. I don't know if this helps with your question, but at least it says that you might have a 'normal' CA125 around the levels it's at now.
