Taxotere/Carbo combo and eyelash/eyebrow loss

Taxotere/Carbo combo and eyelash/eyebrow loss

Well ladies, when I first started posting I asked advice about my upcoming wedding ceremony and whether I should go through with it or not while on chemo.  I decided to do it (!), with help from my nurse and doctors who are all excited about it,  and it's coming up on May 26th.  This is where my question comes in......I just finished my 5th treatment yesterday and had thinning of my eyebrows during my 4th treatment, but since then they seem to be growing back.  My docs looked at me yesterday and seemed surprised I still had them and said that taxotere is gentler on hair loss than taxol (my original drug) and I may keep them.  Anyone have experiences to share about this topic?  Best, Libby

No I haven't experienced that. I have not done taxotere but will  note that. Wishing you a beautiful day and so glad you are going. Let us know how it was. I have a friend that recommended fake eyelashes. At the time I didn't have a big occasion so I never did it. You could go to someone that specializes in that. Wouldn't that be neat.

Have fun and be well,
Helen

First of all, CONGRATS!!  Wow that's exciting, I hope your day is spectacular.
Now me personally, I had the taxotere/carboplatin and I was surprised at first that my hair was gone fast, but my eyelashes and eyebrows hung around.  It wasn't until actually coming up on my last cycle, that I went to go put some mascara on, and they were gone, just like that.  Mine didn't start to come back until a few weeks after my last chemo.  But hey that's what fake eyelashes, and eyebrow pencils are for, right?
Congratulations again.

I had carbo and taxol, and lost both eyebrows and lashes with the first treatment. I bet you get to keep them for your wedding.  Eyebrows are easy, I got really good at drawing them in, and the lashes, there are fake.  Have a beautiful day.  Congratulations.

I had taxotere, and cisplatin and didn't lose my lashes or eyebrows until the end and then they started growing back in within 2 weeks of my last treatment and my brows are coming in fuller than berfore

good luck on the wonderful day and I am glad you went forward because that is what we must do.

Hi Libby.. well you are one lucky lady. I've just completed my 7th. Taxotere/Carbo treatment, and I don't have one hair on my body... not one. *laugh*....Everything has gone, but it's amazing what  some makeup and a good wig will do. :-)  If this combo continues to work for me, then the hair can take care of itself. I don't care. I still go out and about, and enjoy my life, so that's the main thing.
Wishing everyone all the best....hugs..Helen

Just finished my 7th cycle of taxol (not taxoterecarbo.. My hair fell out exactly 14 days after my first cycle, like Helmar, complete body!!! Hair started to grow back after the 4th cycle all over my body except my armpits...Maybe it's the taxotere...
