Sorry, my huband's were umbical hernias, hence the belly button :-)

Oh, okay. Well, I have to make sure that's what it is. When I get more news, which should be this weekend or the beginning of next week, I'll let you guys know. Thanks.
My little girl had an umbilical hernia and an epigastric hernia, They went in the site of the hernia. They made a small incisiona and tucked the bowel back under the muscle. Tiny cut, minimal scar.
Kind of depends on where the hernia is and how large it is, I think. My husband has had 3 hernia surgeries and has very small scars but they are visible (belly button) Surgeries have all been outpatient which is a really, really good thing.
It'll be on my stomach? :( Like I said, it's by my left ovary, so won't they just do it below the belt?
Tiny incision minimal pain. My child has had two hernia repairs. I am glad you know more than you did.
For some reason, I am a wealth of knowledge today...My husband and father-in-law have had hernia surgery, and one of my husband's co-workers.
They do it laparoscopically or open surgery depending on the hernia. It is same day surgery. They put mesh in to hold the herniated part back in place. Different people recover differenty, the three recovery times (going back to work) ranged from 4 days to 1 1/2 weeks. However, different aches and pulls and stabs could be felt occasionally up to a few months during complete healing. A year later, the scars are barely noticeable.
By the way, I have had 2 C-sections (not cut in the same incision) and my scars have healed well. The scar cream called Mederma is supposed to help too, I haven't used it yet though.
Good Luck!
