Think i am going to have to call the doctor back

Ok ,this is the deal..When  i came home from the hospital the second time i ended up with diareah, and that was ok so i didnt have to push, but i still have it and it has been over a week and every time i have to go it spasms up my whole left side, all the way into the bottom of my stomach..Im thinking it is colon spasms but not for sure..And i am still having bladder spasms everytime i have to urinate..I feel like i am going to burst and i go to the bathroom and it is just a trickle during the day..I do not know if all this is normal ...They weighed me the day of the surgery and i weighed 284 and i weighed last night and i am down to 253,but i think with all the bathroom breaks i have during the day and the night has a lot to do with it...I have from 5 to 9 bowel movements in one day and i am up all through the night urinating..No sleep...I was wondering if maybe i still have imflamation set up in there, because i am still having alot of pain from left to right especially when i cough ,sneeze or sit to long..and i know that they had to remove adhesions from the small intestine and the rest of my stomach cause it was everywheres..Strength wise ,i am feeling well one moment and the next like i just dont have anything in me to move...Maybe some one can give me a ideal of what is going on....lou

No, I noticed that we have not had any posts from KathyO, and she never did respond to your message.  I hope these next rounds of chemo are not too terrible for her.  Perhaps she is taking a vacation before she starts the treatment.

I had the same spasms after my surgery.  It hurt so bad that I walked to the bathroom doubled over  then just had a trickl.  Turns out I had the flu and a uti!! I got the hot flashes, night sweats & chest pain! And to top it off, I felt like I was going nuts. Dr. gave me some lorazapam(sp) for anxiety and it helped.  Hot flashes and nightsweats are not as bad now, taking soy but it also could mean that my hormones are getting back to normal.I feel your pain sweety, my thoughts and prayers are with you for a speedy recovery.

The only time that it hurts me is in the beginning because of the spasm but when i get finished i still feel like have to go and am back in the bathroom within five minutes...And when i stand up off the toilet it is still trickling out..And i had a ton of antibiotics a week ago because i had surgery on the 13th and came home on the 15th and went back in the next day for 103 fever and got released three days later..they ran about twenty bags of antibiotic through me because they thought that i had a post op infection and it turned out that my lungs were gathering up some really nasty stuff in them and they did a cat scan because they thought that i had internal bleeding from the surgery and it turned out to be severe imflamtion everywhere they removed something..i had my staple out monday and she said that if the diareah continues to call but i am so afraid of something else being wrong i am afraid to..I have not got my pathology report back yet ,so..but thanks...louella

I  just don't know.  I have never had it post-surgically, but some of the patients over the years have indeed had it.  And it can be tied in with the overall electrolyte levels in the blood, so the urinary issue might be affecting the problem as well.   I would be surprised if you are not dehydrated by all this.  I guess that you are already drinking Gator-Aid type drinks or bananas and some salty foods.

Louella, I had the bladder "spasms" too.  My doctor diagnosed it as there being a small bubble of air from the insertion or removal of my catheter.   It went away after about a month, getting better and better, slowly and surely, each day.   Oddly, I did not get a urinary tract infection this time.   Usually, just sitting in the general vicinity of a urinary catheter will cause me to get a UTI.  Ha, ha.  But,  seriously, yes, it is worth calling the doctor.
