Tinnitus after Chemotherapy.

I have been reading your forum for quite a while and have a question for you lovely ladies.

In April this year I completed Chemotherapy for Ovarian Endermetriod Cancer (Six Rounds of Taxol/Carboplatin) and nearly all my side effects have cleared up except for one. Tiinitus.

I wonder if any of you  have experienced this after your chemotherapy treatments and whether it has cleared up for you eventually or it is something that you have learn't to live with. When it first began it was quite distressing on top of all the other chemo side effects, I had one Ear Nose and Throat specialist tell me every time I heard the ringing at least I would know that I am alive...(Some doctors have no bedside manner at all!!!!!). I felt like ringing a bell in his ear for 24 hours.

As everything else clears up I keep my fingers crossed that this will go too but who knows...

I've heard the Carboplatin messes with the nervous system and also the hearing. Definately has with my nervous system in the past. And my hearing is not as what it was.  I don't have the ringing in the ear now but I used to on my other Carbo treatments here and there.

I am currently on carboplatin and doxil and starting some of the neurotoxicity side effects and the tinnitus is one.  The bells are ringing in my ears.  I will be letting them know, maybe they'll cut the dose, I don't like this.  I don't find it  a bell constant buzzing, good luck with yours.

Hello... and with a name like 'coogee'.... could you be another Aussie? :-) I've not had Taxol, but I know a couple of ladies at my clinic who have, and they both reported ringing in the ears. Apparently it does go away in time, but one lady said that she's had Taxol  for more than the 6 cycles, and she still has the ringing in her ears. I've had a lot of Taxotere and it hasn't left any ringing in my ears at all. Hopefully you will be free of it in time. I hope you are doing well otherwise....hugs....Helen...
