I just wanted to let you know that I had a genetic test done for MMMT- Carcinosarcoma of the ovary as I have two sisters and it came back not genetic. My Geneticsist (sp?) also said that this type of rare cancer is rarely genetic. However if I were you I would stay on top of being tested, as it is so rare I wonder how much information they really have. I just thought I would share that with you.  God bless you!!

can i ask was it just a blood test?.I have had to fill in lots of forms and give consent to my medical records(and get some members of my family to as well)being accessed in order for them to decide if i need testing and wondered why the big issue with med records ect. Is the test very expensive?.Thanks for any info on this.Dawn

Actually yes it is just a blood test. I live in Alberta, Canada so our health care will actually pay for the test however there is a 2 year wait time. Knowing that I probably do not have 2 years to wait, we went through a private company and it cost us 3800.00 insurance would not cover it.

Thank you. Iam from the uk so i am also covered by the nhs.I was curious as to why the need to go over all the med records if it was just a blood test.Im not sure how much you paid would be in GBP but it sounds a lot.Thank you for that.Dawn

Thanks so very much for this information.I really appreciate all the info that I can get concerning this very rare cancer. I'm going to my OB next month, I wish they had more than the CA 125 to test for this stuff. They keep saying it will come out soon, but the longer it takes the more women will have to suffer from late diagnosis. By the way, how have you been doing? Hopefully the treatments haven't been too hard on you. When is your last treatment? Let me know, I'll have you in my prayers.

Sorry this took so long for a response, I am doing ok , blood work and ca125 show progress however I have a few side effects from the chemo which suck. Like yesterday I had to wear mocascins to the mall cause my feet are so tender, imagine. But I should truly be so lucky that I am still able to go to the mall. Amaris I make bracelets for ovarian cancer awareness and I would like to send you one if you want it. if you want you can email me a mailing address to steph _ chisholm @ yahoo . ca no spaces of course. Your such a tough girl. Hang in there. God be with you.
