Topecetan

Hi everyone. This Chemo is working on me!! My ca125 after three months of Doxil was at 880.  It is now after one round of treatment down to 322, it is so nice to have my life back. I was not affected by the Doxil and hence my cancer grew for three months but I was willing to go three rounds to see if it worked and it didnt. I start my second round of Topecetan today. So far little side effects, other than constipation, HELP! Going to try some of the new plum juice I see advertised. I am so graetful to be getting my strengh back it was a rough couple of months, I really saw the stress it caused my family (sad) but now things for the time are getting better!!
Love, kathy

It's so great to hear good news that this chemo is working with you. I have not tried this drug yet. Doxil didn't really work for me either. I'm now on low dose Taxol and I'm sure if it doesn't work well I'll be doing this one. This gives me hope.
Thank you,
Helen

P.S. It's so awful to waste your time and health on a drug that doesn't work!

Oh Kathy, so glad to hear of your good news... it was long overdue. I am on Taxol/carbo again, but after my next treatment will either be switching to a clinical trial or Topetocan. It's nice to hear someone is having positive results with it. I know there are lots of drugs out there for us... it's just a matter of finding which one works. I'm happy to hear the side effects are tolerable - I'm in agony with the Taxol and really don't want to continue with this treatment. The constipation is horrific too - I sympthasize!
Take care and stay happy,
Becky

Hi Kathy - so glad to hear you have found something which works after your hard time with Doxil.  It must have been a very difficult time.  Doxil only lasted 2 cycles for me before the doc took me off it beginning of December, and I will be starting the intensive cisplatin/etoposide regime on Thursday.  Not looking forward to a hard time but keen to see something get a grip of the disease progression.  Keep in touch, Jenny

Dear Kathy:

So glad to hear your news.  Just had to let you know that I have terrible problems with constipation.  I started drinking one cup of tea a day that my doctor recommended.  It has really worked for me and really think you should try it. One cup works for me and like I say I have had severe problems.  It is called "Smooth Move" by Traditional Medicinals.  Please try it.

Dear Kathy:

Excellent news Kathy. It's great to find a drug that works for you. Doxil on the other hand worked for my wife but not Topo. It just proves to show that each cancer cells is different for everyone.

I pray that it will completely put you in remission.
