"Tramadol" for pain?

"Tramadol" for pain?

Has anyone used Tramadol for pain relief instead of morphine or dilaudid (hydromorphone)?  A book I was just reading talked about pain medications such as morphine actually decrease NK killer cell activity.  They recommended Tramadol which supposedly has less side effects and does not supress NK cells.

I was prescribed Tremadol this week after surgery for melanoma.  I've had other pain kills in the past (like Percoset), and I like this one better.  It stops pain, but doesn't make you quite as loopy as Percoset).  It didn't give me any digestive problems, and while it probably made me fall asleep easier, it doesn't knock you out.  I actually prefer it to anything I've had before.

Great thanks!  Yeah I heard it has less side effects so we might bring it up with the oncologist.  The one's she's on now is filled with too many effects.

I just started on Tramadol yesterday, I am having very strong and strange pain that the doctor does not know where it is coming from. I took a pill yesterday and it did not seem to help, last night I took another and it helped and I slept through the night for the first time in a long time.
