Trans vaginal ultrasounds for ovarian caner?

by clinn08, Oct 13, 2009 04:19PM
Is a trans vaginal ultrasound and a regular ultrasound, plus two x rays of the abdomen an accurate way to test for ovarian cancer and to find any abnormalities of the ovaries?

Hi there,

Well, if your transvaginal ultrasound is negative that is a great sign.  The other tests you mention just add to the confirmation you don't have an ovarian mass (if they were negative). However, there are so many types of cancer and other medical issues too. If you have symptoms and can't find answers you need to keep pursuing the issue.  From your post, it is unclear of your situation but if you had no mass seen on your ovary that is a great sign that you probably don't have ovarian cancer.  Best wishes.
