Will the technician who performs the ultrasound be able to give me any information or will I have to wait to hear back from my obgyn? Any info appreciated. Coilltebabe

I'm concerned. My mother had her ultrasound (pelvic and abdominal) yesterday. The tech said that the doctor might want to do a transvaginal but didn't. What does that mean???

Thank for helping me to understand why the can't tell you anything. Still, waiting for the results are sheer agony for me and my family!

My tech was a little bit more verbal than he should have been, he had me pretty worried when he kept saying "what the heck is this". Especially since he had been doing UltraSounds for 25 years.

Fortunately all I could think about is how much I wanted to pee.

I am actually going to school for ultrasound and the techs really aren't allowed to give any information on the results because we can get into big trouble if we were wrong about something, that person can come back and say " well he/she told me I would be ok." But if the tech feels comfortable that you won't say anything then they might give you an idea of whats going on. But we are not doctors, so we can not diagnose.

All my tech would tell me was that I had two large cysts and that they had the characteristics of endometriomas. They said there is no way to tell anything else from the u/s.

When I had mine done, the technician was helpful and gave me some info on the results, although was kinda vague didn't tell me everything that was told the doctor in the full report.

In my experience, the technician didn't give me any info. They just make sure they got good pics before they let you leave and then your Dr contacts you with the results.

Good luck

I really think it depends who you get.
I've had some very helpful people do my scans and have found them very informative, but others who have really just treated me with interest from the waist down!!!
Its worth asking!
