Travel After Laprotomy Surgery

Travel After Laprotomy Surgery

Hi

I had undergone laprotomy in first week of Sept .
I plan to visit USA exactly after 1 month in Oct first week.
Can anyone tell me whether this is advisable or do I cancel my trip?

Also there is lot of wind trapped in my stomach after surgery. I am taking peppermint tea. Can anything else help get rid of wind?

Thank you .

Traveling would be up to your doctor, however I knew several gals that traveled a month after and no problems.  As far as the gas, you may want to try Gas-X it works wonders.  Make sure to take with a glass of water to ensure proper relief.  If the gas pains are causing you pain, Motrin works great.  It saved me after surgery when the gas pains are the worst!

Hope this helps,
Shawn

i am 5 weeks post lap, my doctor said last week i can do light exercise but no heavy lifting for 3 months. i dont know if you are flying or have someone drive you. it wouldnt be advisable to carry any bags/cases or drive yourself. you might have to check with your insurance to see if they'll cover you for flying (due to possible deep vein thrombosis risk). i too would check with your doc.best wishes.
