Tripe digits at last!!! :-)

Tripe digits at last!!! :-)

Hi All...I've got the results back for my last blood tests and going into treatment No.6... my CA.125 has dropped again, and it's now down to 580. This is after 5 treatments of Taxotere/Carbo and the starting number was 7500 in mid December..... so I'm very happy.
I realise at 580 that's still high compared to some other girls here, but I'm feeling really well, and without any pain or discomfort. I still lead a normal, active lifestyle, so no complaints here. Should be interesting to see if No. 6 works as well.
Wishing everyone all the best... *hugs*  Helmar.

To each of you wonderful ladies who responded to my good news... thankyou, it's much appreciated. I still have some way to go to reach double digits, but I won't hold my breath on that one. :-) Chemo 6 was yesterday, so the fatigue will settle in during the next week or so, but I'll have enough energy to rustle up some food, as my appetite is too good to say no. :-)
I'd like to take this opportunity to wish each and everyone of you a really nice Easter, and hope you are all feeling well enough to get stuck into the chocky eggs. :-)
Simply Star... a special hug for Leslee, and I hope and pray that she is getting on top of this beast.
Mid... due to the chemo, I will be taking it easy over Easter, but I love going to the footy.... am a member of one of the Melbourne clubs, so I hope I can make it on Saturday. I'll see how I feel that morning.
Best wishes and hugs to all.....Helmar.

Hello... and thankyou so much for you nice comments. They are much appreciated. I must admit to be a little more relieved lately, as in mid December with a CA.125 of 7500, I didn't think I would see triple digits again... but now I'm going after double digits. :-) I may not reach them but it won't be for the want of trying.
I hope you are feeling well, and enjoying your Easter break too.
*hugs*....Helmar...

I am so thrilled for you that your CA 125 number went down (considerably).  What a boost, huh?  I like your statement about the importance of feeling good, not in pain or discomfort, being able to lead a satisfying lifestyle.  That is what I think, too.  Even though with the Doxil I am having a lot of fatigue, I am not in pain and continue to be fairly active.  On Friday I will see my oncologist, find out my latest CA 125.  My next chemo is due (would be the 4th of Doxil) but will find out on 6th if I stay on that or go to something else.  I know that sometimes this ov.ca. and treatment gets daunting for us gals, but we have to celebrate every positive thing that occurs.  This forum helps me so much.  Happy Springtime!

Thankyou for your nice comments... and I did have 4 treatments of Doxil too, before this latest combo... and oh yes.. also a couple of Topotecan in between. and Carboplatin alone. :-) The Doxil worked really well for me, but because of the possibility of it damaging the heart, my Oncol. decided to leave it aside for maybe a later date, if I needed something that was proven for me, when this Taxotere/Carbo may no longer be working for me. I was dx in Feb'04 and apart from just over 9 months 'of freedom' after my operation, I've pretty much been on some sort of chemo since.  I think the best part about Doxil was, it kept reducing the CA.125 for 3 months after the last treatment, so I was able to have a mini break off the chemo.
I agree with you... the treatments do get a pain at times, but I don't like the alternative, if I don't keep up with my treatments.:-)
Being pain-free and with no discomfort is a bonus with this, for which I am very thankful, as it does make our everyday lives just that little better, I think.
I wish you and your family and very Happy Easter weekend, and I hope you have lots of Spring flowers around. We are into Autumn down here now, but the weather is still really nice.
Best wishes...Helmar...

Helen,
It's always a joy to celebrate with you that your numbers are steadily going down.  Maybe who knows afterwards you might want to look into that antibody trial that's only available in Australia. Maybe you could stay in a long remission. We love that word remission on this site.  http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct/show/NCT00382811?order=6

I've been looking into clinical trials, and the trials I was interested in either closed or excludes me because of hypothyroidism, brain mets, or too many chemos. I am not brave to go into a Phase I but was considering it with a monoclonal but that closed. So its back to Gemzar. We'll see. I am very active and just don't want too much fatigue.

So I am looking forward to Spring. We are having a very cold weekend here. Enjoy your Fall!

Breathe in the good,
:) Helen

Hi Helen... it's always good to hear from you, and I hope you are feeling fine this Easter. Thanks for the site.. I'll take a look at that, as we need to keep up with anything new that's going on. Does the Gemzar work o.k. for you? If it does, then maybe it's a good choice to go back to. It didn't do much for me, only a big number on my blood, thus needing transfusions. This combo I'm on now is doing good, and without too much in the way of side affects... just mainly fatigue. The appetite is still great.
Wishing you a nice Easter... and enjoy some of that chocky. :-)   hugs..Helen..
