US results - fluid in endometrial canal

Hi Everyone -

I had my diagnostic D & C yesterday, and of course have to wait one to two weeks for pathology.  Since I was under a general, my GYN was able to perform a more complete pelvic exam (with a normal result).  She said the fluid (revealed on my ultrasounds to be a small amount of fluid in the endometrial canal) contained some blood, but it could caused by her opening my VERY STENOTIC Cervix.  She's hoping the closed cervix had merely trapped some fluid.  She also told me the US showed normal uterine size, with an endometrial strip of 3 to 4 mm.  As always, Dr.s are always in a hurry and that was all I could get out of her!  If anyone has some insight, it would be greatly appreciated!!!!

As for tomorrow, back to the hospital for a endoscopic upper ultrasound for a better look at my gastric polyp.  Talk about a lost week!

Best wishes for anyone going through testing and surgery!

Susan

I beieve even menopausal women discharge some as well. Maybe not as much, but to cleanse a bit. Good thought about the betadine and remember, they did a D&C and had to pry open your cervix to do so and the material just might be a bit of dried blood. From what I understand of uterine cancer, it's a PROFUSE and watery discharge and you just had a bit. My guess is it's just from the procedures themselves as they moved through the cervix.

I'm approximately ten years menopausal, so I guess now I have to worry that the stenotic cervix blocked my only early detetion of something going wrong!  I don't know it a closed cervix will completely block the flow of fluid or not.  I'm also having some sort of brownish debri coming out with urine flow (sorry for the graphic description!), so I guess either older blood or simply colored by betadyne.  Is that normal after a D & C?

My guess here is your cervix made it difficult for you to pass the normal discharges of womanhood (oooh, don't I sound formal?? :)) A stenotic cervix would definitely block things up and it sounds like there was just a small amount of fluid. I would say if you notice blood weeks after surgery, re-evalute, yes?
