UTERINE/BLADDER/BACK ISSUES RELATED

I am scheduled for a hysterectomy at the end of  the month as have continual dysfunctional uterine bleeding, thickened endometrium (1.7cm), bilaterial simple ovarian cysts changing pattern and the suggestion of endometriosis.  Previously, it was suspected adenomyosis.  I've been monitoring cysts change for several months and have increased back pain, bleeding, exhaustion so I am mentally prepared for surgery and relief. I'm 49, premenopausal, 1 child.  Had recent kidney stone and CT noted another stone in right kidney, bladder thickening, sclerotic bone lesions possibly bone islands and ovarian cysts, the thickened endometrium and uterine cysts.  I can't help but think the bladder/gyno/back issues are related.  There was a notation of the bladder thickening of 'organ origin unknown' and urologist thought it to be gynecological. I can suffer through 30 more days of bleeding since there is end in sight but I still believe this is abnormal; daily flow is sometimes clotting and heavy period, other times looks like leaky urine but always several pads a day.  I've discussed with gyno who doesn't seem too concerned except agrees that I should get needed relief with surgery. Could the combination of above symptoms suggest something more serious (uterine/ovarian cancer?)   I know I can wait for surgery results but your good counsel is again appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi, Sparky,

How did the surgery go?  By now, you should be making great strides in recovery.  I just had a hysterectomy on November 8th and was diagnosed with a combination of uterine and ovarian cancer.  The oncologist was able to remove most of it but there were some remaining cells he couldn't get to, so I will begin chemo in a few weeks.  I will go in every three weeks for 6 treatments.

I, too have been fighting a bladder infection for months and my urologist and I never dreamed it was cancer developing all along.  When I began hemmhoraging so badly, he sent me tot he gynocologist who put me in the hospital that same day and did a D & C and endometrial biopsy and a hysteroscopy.  He told me it could be as long as two weeks before he had the complete pathology report but he called me the following day to tell me it was cancer.  He referred me to the wonderful oncologist.

I will be losing my hair 17 days after the first treatment but that is of little consequence.  it will grow back...hopefully the cancer cells won't.

I wish you the best for the future. Kepp on top of this and stay well.
