My daughter (15 yrs old) was sent to the emergencyEmergency airway puncture Emergency contraception room April of 2003 with abdominal pain. She was given an ultrasound and diagnosed with dermoid cysts on both ovaries. We immediately contacted a GYN and laproscopy was performed. The GYN saw clean ovaries with no sign of dermoid cysts. He assumed she must have had fluid cysts which were no longer present. In January 2004 she went back for a follow-up ultrasound and there was no sign of cysts. Now it is April 2005 and her new doctor is definitely seeing dermoid cysts. Could dermoid cysts grow inside the ovary and be missed during laproscopy?
My 11 year old is going for surgery on the 15th of Apr. She has lost weight and has no pain and has had regular periods the whole time since she was 10.
She only has the one large "mass" on her left ovary.I am anxious to get this over with to know the outcome.
I hope for the best for your daughter.Did she have any symptoms that led you to come to this board?
