Unexplained bleeding

I will be going to the doctor, but my appointment is in 3 weeks.  For as long as I can remember I bleed after intercourse during the week before my period - As for my period I normally spot for a few days and then bleed for 3 and then spot for 2.  Lately I have been spotting for 3 days and bleeding for 1.  As weird as it is - I wasn't going to complain, but last night after intercourse I was bleeding.  My period ended about 4 days ago.  Can there be a reason that my period isn't bleeding out?  I rarely use tampons... we have been using this new lube and I was thinking that because it wasn't water based that it was clogging me up (I know impossible), but I have never had a 1 day period until a month after using this stuff.  My aunt died of cervical cancer and I have been a egg donor and I know what they say about the possibilities of ovarian cancers...

Anyone have any advice or knowledge - other than go to the doctor?  My last pap was in July and was normal.

you are absolutely right to see your doctor.
work up of abnormal vaginal bleeding includes:
pelvic exam
pap smear
check for infections that can cause irritation that can cause bleeding (such as chlamydia)
biopsy of any visible abnormalities,
biopsy of the lining of the uterus (called endometrial biopsy)
ultrasound to evaluate the uteurs for fibroids or other growths.
if all is normal , there may be a hormonal imbalance.

it will also be important to check for anemia and clotting problems
