Should I insist on a gyn/onc to do the surgery?

My experience was a cyst, 7 cm at diagnosis. My gyn felt it was a simple cyst but insisted on having an oncologist there during surgery in case things looked a bit bad or if the initial test showed any problems. The oncologist is the best person to recognize what is normal and what isn't. By the time I had my surgery, my cyst had grown to 10 cm. But it was benign. As much as I didn't even want to hear the word "cancer" or "oncologist" I know now that my doctor was doing what she felt was best for my health. I'm thankful for that.

I personally would have a GYN/ Oncologist to do the surgery. I have a great GYN who has done surgery on me, but when it comes to the Ovaries I went with a GYN/Oncologist.In my case they biopsied my tumors while I was in surgery.

I went to my PCP because I felt a mass in my lower left side. He sent me for a US the next day where they found a 13cm "simple cyst". After my follow up with the gyno and some searches online, I don't know what to do. A little back history on me. In 2010 at 31 yrs old I had a c-cection/hyst from complications during pregnancy (percreta. Placenta attached to bladder). They left my ovaries. I've never had any problems with them until after the hyst. Painful ovulation, and cysts. The gyno ordered the ca 125 and am still waiting for results. She wants to do a laparotomy herself. She said the gyno/onc doesn't need to be there since it is only a simple cyst. My question is: a- should i push for the gyno/onc to do the surgery or b- ask for him to be on call durring the surgery. She said that they would take a frozen sample and if there was cancer then they would call the oncologist in. She seemed to be positive that there was no cancer. She even said she would try to do it laparoscopically first and see if she could drain then remove. I was against this and told her I just wanted her to use the same vertical incision they used for my ccection. She said she would try to fit me in her calendar but it might be three months before I have the surgery. She doesn't even want to order a CAT scan. I am so bloated I cant button my jeans anymore. I was joking with my husband that I feel pregnant. Back pain, peeling allllll the time indigestion. I have a strange right leg pain that shoots from ovarie to knee. Any info would be great. Thanx
