Update on mom- Fuda Cancer Hospital

Update on my mom- I spent Christmas with her in the Philippines.  Here's history again- so she was stage 3c Jan 07 and did Chemo Carbo Taxol which ended in June.  She was on remission until CA 125 rose rapidly in Nov (from 14 in Sept. to 123  in november).  She had Caelyx in dec. and got really thin and  her ca 125 rose to 230 after Caelyx so she opted to go to China.  She checked in at Fuda hospital Jan 1st. They did PET CTScan that showed all the spread. Her cancer spread to liver, lungs, and activated again in her abdomen and abdominal lymph nodes.     Right away, they did gendicine treatment, cryosurgery on lung tumors, and immunotherapy.  Her blood counts were low when she wentto Fuda and  had a difficult time after her cryosurgery.  But after 3 days of cryosurgery, her blood counts (hemo adn white blood) became normal, she's stronger and ultrasound and xray showed no more water in her lungs and heart.  And the ultrasound can't find any tumors as well.  Also, when they were doing the cryo- they couldn't find the tumor in her liver (which the doctors think might have shrunk due to gendicine) So after 2.5 weeks in Fuda Hospital, they are going back to the Philippines.  They will go back to Fuda after 30 days for another PETCTScan and treatment if needed.  Everything is happening fast and I just wanted to share this positive news with everyone-  THERE COULD be HOPE to at least control this disease if not A CURE!  LEt's all hope and pray this works.  The doctors were positive despite the spread.  I will keep everyone updated. Again here is the link to the hospital's website:

I hope and pray we find something to control or better yet cure this disease.

It is so good to hear of things they are doing in China. This sounds very hopeful and am so interested in hearing continued good news. I have heart a lot on cryosurgery. I wonder what they used for immunotherapy. Love it.

This is the definition of  Anti-tumor Immunotherapy with DC vaccine
they applied to my mom- per hospital.  I guess it's basically using the immune system to fight off the cancer cells.  My mom stopped chemo because she really lost a lot of weight after her first caelyx and her ca 125 went up.  I really hope the therapy in china works.  and can keep her cancer in control. I will keep everyone posted.

Tumors can escape recognition by the host 's immune system and
can locally inactivate its effectors. T-Cells and Antigen presenting cells.
However, the immune system, oppurtunely stimulated, is capable
of recognizing and killing tumor cells.
Dendritic cells ( DC ) are professional antigen presenting cells that are able to activate cells toward various antigen cells.
