Update on mum

Hi

I have posted many times regarding my mum who has had stage 3 OVCA since March 2005.

Mum had her 5th reoccurance in Feb 2011, CA125 190. Started cisplatin and taxol. CA125 dropped to 64 after 5 sessions. CA125 taken just before the 6th and it was 70. Her Dr said this is nothing to worry about and it means the disease is stable. She has had her 6th treatment and CA125 will be done in 2 weeks time.

Do u think this is bad sign that the disease is growing dispite the chemo? Mums Dr isn't worried by the rise at all.

Mums reoccurance is an 'omental cake' and no organs are involved in the report from the scan.

Her Dr plans to watch the CA125 as they said her disease is a slow growing one and when number creep up to start doxil then and leave the platinum agents until the need to use them.

She feels well considering all the chemo she has had. No pains or anything. Eating and drinking fine.

She did have some rectal bleeding at the time her CA125 was taken when it was 70, and the Dr thinks she might have piles or Crones disease so could that influence the CA125.

Thanks once again
