Update on my moms scan, and question

by elizza, Sep 24, 2007 10:21AM
I just wanted to update you on my mom.  The doctor won't be in until Thursday, but my dad talked to the nurse.  Her ca-125 went back down to 4, but her scan came back with a spot on the liver.  Everything else is clear.  The nurse said it is a very small spot, but they are not sure what it is.  Any idea's?  There is no fluid, and no other signs of anything else.  I am worried about the spot though.

My daughter had a spot on her liver that was discovered at the time of initial surgery.  They chose not to remove it but to watch it closely.  Ten months after diagnosis and no word on the spot, I asked if they have been monitoring it.  They said that they have been and believe it is a cyst on her liver, which is not terribly uncommon.  Hope this helps.

Take Care and God Bless,
Bob

They can do a PET scan to see if it OC.  The Pet is radioactive sugar which is taken up by cancer cells faster than normal cells.  It is expensive so they don't use it as a first line and need pre approval from your insurance company.  It may be nothing, one thing cancer has taught me is patience, I want immediency, but you still get to wait - and it stinks.  Heres hoping it is nothing, let us know what happens

I had a spot on my liver and everyone, including my oncologist, went into a tail spin....turned out to be fatty deposits.....it could be a hemangioma, which is nothing as well.  It is hard to do but try not to borrow trouble....keep us posted and give your folks our best.
Peace.

I, too, have a spot on my liver and minute ones on my lungs as well...Doctor is being precautious by making me take more rounds of chemo..they have not changed in size or number and I have started questioning if more chemo is necessary at this point (11 cycles so far).  Even talked to a liver specialist who told me that a healthy liver should have no spots..I am relieved to read all your comments and going to see about getting a PET scan next time.
