Her primaryPrimary amyloidosis Primary biliary cirrhosis Primary hyperparathyroidism Primary insomnia Primary lymphoma of the brain says its her liver, her regularRegular insulin oncologist says liver is fine ct scan shows negative. Her gyn onco says its probably from the omentum and ascites. Well the ascites was drained 2 days ago and she still feeling the discomfort. The bootom of her bra bothers her. I would really hate to put her through all of this surgury to find out its in her liver and possible pleara of lung. Noone really knows till they go in for debulking surgery is that correctCorrect (new formula)? Then what will they also work on the liver. What about bowels are they usually involved also. Then what?
CT and PET scans will show any sign of disease that is in the liver or the lungs, even the bowel for that matter. It just depends on the cancer itself where it spreads to. For many, yes, the bowel in affected, but just as many have no problems in the bowel area.
Even if there is disease in her lungs or liver, it can still be taken care of. That is where chemo comes in. At the time of my dx, my liver was described as "spectacular" as it was full of cancer. I had 8 rounds of carbo/taxol, then surgery. 6 weeks after my surgery, I had a radiofrequency ablation to my liver to burnAirway burn Burn, blister - close-up Burn, thermal - close-up Burns Burns - resources Eye burning - itching and discharge First degree burn Heartburn Heartburn prevention Minor burn - first aid - series Painful swallowing out the tumors left there. (very simple procedure, with just over night stay in hospital) When I went home the next day, there was no visible cancer in my body, only microscopic cells. I had another RFA done a year later. I once again have cancer in my liver, but it is being kept under controlControl Control rx with chemo and I have not had any problems with my liver what so ever.
I know that I refer to myself in the answers that I give you but that is the only way I know to explain and I hope that by slowly learning my story that you will see that everything does not have to be gloom and doom and that there are brighter sides to even the worst of it.
