Uterine Cancer Concern

Can someone tell me what the next stage might be for me. I had a D&C in Dec. showing endometrial cancer stage 1(well defined). Gyn told me a hysterectomy should be all I need. Had that on Jan 31st.  Ovaries, tubes and lymph nodes fine, but they found malignant cells in the peritoneal wash.  So now I am upgraded to Stage IIIA Grade 1.  Have an appt. with gny/onc later this month. Your opinions/ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks
Trish

I too was diagnosed this past week with Uterine Cancer.  I have NO info at all!!!  The dr that diagnosed me is sending me to another dr on Monday.  All she said to me was this is the results and the treatment is out of my league... which made me feel like she was not telling me all.  She did tell me I needed to make sure I kept my appt with this dr on Monday due to the severity of my condition. So... now I'm freakin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Trish

Good to hear that the operation is over and done for you. As survivor_susie said radiotherapy is usually the treatment of choice and it can either be administered internally which is called Brachytherapy or external radiation.

I had radiotherapy as part of my treatment for ovarian cancer and I found it much easier than the chemo. The main side effects that I experienced was fatigue (mainly from having to go to the hospital 5 days a week over six weeks) and diarrhoea.

Good Luck (Remember Uterine Cancer has a high cure rate:))

Trish,
I've also had uterine cancer.  It helps to remember that uterine cancer is highly curable, much more so than ovarian cancer.  I think I read that it tends to be a slow-growing cancer as well.
Radiation is often the treatment of choice for most uterine cancers.  Compared to chemo, it was a walk in the park!  Nothin' to it!  You might want to do some research about the hospitals nearby and see what kinds of treatments and facilities they offer.
Best wishes to you.  You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Trish, I am so sorry that I cannot help with you any info on Uterine Cancer.  There is a site, hystersisters....they have a cancer concerns forum and there are women there with Uterine cancer that can help answer your questions, also, try asking Dr Goodman, she should be able to offer you advice.
God luck
